29th July 2021 : Riaz Butt and daughter Natalie
Flight over Sussex & Hampshire
The second trip today was for Riaz Butt, a former airframe & engine engineer at Autair, British Eagle and of course BCAL. This was arranged by his daughter Natalie as a surprise birthday present, but Covid made it many months late! Natalie was also ground staff and cabin crew, but joined just after the merger with BA, so never wore tartan.
Their flight involved tracking along the coast from Shoreham to Hayling Island and then across to the Isle of Wight, pointing out various landmarks on the way of course. The return flight went over Cowes, Osborne House, Portsmouth Harbour and Arundel before landing back at Shoreham.
It was a very windy day, but the flights were not too turbulent and the runways at both Shoreham and Sandown favoured the 20kt winds.
By the way, their new “friends” at Sandown are resident lazy bones Sid, his girlfriend Mabel (I think) and their dog. It seems they need feeding up...….the pizza's are great, they should try them!
