Michael "Mick" Morgan : BCal Avionics Engineer & Fleet Technical Engineer with BA
Sadly Mick passed away in December 2024, my sincere condolences to his family, friends and former colleagues.
Mick joined BUA in Sept '63 on their first 5 Year Indentured Apprenticeship scheme with 5 others. He went to Brooklands Technical College, Weybridge with Vickers Apprentices, as there wasn't enough to fill a class from BUA. Later he joined Dave Sturney in Las Palmas for 6 months at the end of the Apprenticeship turning round the South American VC10's, and the West African 1-11's.
Returning to Gatwick at the end of the 6 months, he got Electrical Licences on the 1-11 and B707, and became an Avionic Supervisor on the Ramp. He remained in that role, with British Caledonian, and then BA, becoming a Fleet Technical Engineer before taking early retirement in October 2003. In his 40 year career he worked on the Britannia, Viscount, and DC-6 through to the B747-200, and B777.
