From Loz Allan
My sincere condolences to John’s family on the sad news of his passing away. I did my DC 10 course with John as his co pilot. I have to say he was not only a very competent pilot but great fun to fly with in all respects. Charlie Coates was the BCAL training captain and between us we had a lot of laughs. He had a wonderful sense of humour and was always a delight to be with. We flew several times subsequently and I know he was extremely popular and highly respected by all crew members. The family can be justly proud of this fine aviator and wonderful, kind person. Fly high, fly free John
