Maurice "Ted" Bracey Aircraft Engineer

Sadly Maurice passed away on 23rd April 2016. My sincere condolences go out to his family, friends and former colleagues.

Maurice, known to many as Ted, joined BUA in 1969 and would retire from BA after a long career as an Aircraft Engineer (Airframe / Engines). Before airline service Maurice had joined the RAF with Tom Beck in 1959 and later worked closely with Tom for 10 years at BUA and BCAL.

Tom remembers Maurice as a great friend and someone who will be missed by everyone who knew him.  Maurice's service was held on 10th May 2016 at the Surrey & Sussex Crematorium

Maurice Remembered

From Tom Beck:   He was a great friend and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

From Bob Cooper
I knew Maurice (Ted) for many years at BCAL and then bumped into him again when he was at MK Cargo. He was always quietly spoken and a real gentleman. Although I had not seen him for a while I know that he will be sorely missed. RIP Ted.

From Christine Wood
I remember Ted. He was shift manager with Carl Traynor in GSU. He was one of the nicest managers to work for. So sorry for your loss.

From Andy East
Ted was my mentor. I learned so much from him. The best engineer I knew. We worked on the casualty shift supporting both minor maintenance and the line operation. There was nothing we as a team couldn't fix. Sorry to hear of his passing.

From Simon McIntosh: I remember Ted, really nice guy. So sorry to hear of his passing.

From Jim Will: I remember him well. Sorry for your sad loss.

From Robert Rice
Remember Ted as my manager in the GSU. He would often be able to find a way of getting round a problem. Glad to have known him. Sorry to hear of his passing.

From Phil Laycock: Ted was a "gentleman " engineer and the GSU was a good place to work under his direction.

From David Warner: I worked with Ted a lot. A real role model for me in my early career.

From Hugh Waghorn
I was posted onto shift with Ted in late 1987 and remained with him through the merger into BA, the unit morphing into GSU. As many have highlighted a total gentleman, and a real pleasure to work alongside. Never bothered by problems, only ever looked for solutions and found them

From Riaz Butt: Sad to hear that he is not with us anymore but glad to have known him,he was one of a kind.

From Debbie Norman: Sad news. RIP Ted.

From Brian Wassell
I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Ted in Hangar 3, he was a 12hr shift pattern man, being an engine man he often covered the ECU that were carried out at W/E where he done the ground testing in the muffle and return to service certification, we never failed to deliver. Ted was a Gentleman with very good man management skills.

From Jeremy Berridge
As everyone above has said, a true gentleman and engineer. Engineering appeared to run in his blood. A “great person “ RIP”

From Steven Maltman
I was privileged to work under Ted in Hangar 3 on the oily Boeing 707. He was the true definition of a aircraft engineer and a gentlemen to boot. R.I.P. Ted condolences to all the family

From Ian Plumridge: Yes ' absolute / calm gentleman. Often worked with ' Ted ' on our rostered Night Shift. RIP Ted.

From Carlos Paulo
A true gentleman, a pleasure to work with, dry sense of humour and stories, I liked the one of him when he was serving in Aden cutting people’s hair.

From Paul Funnell
Yes. I worked with him often, as did my dad, Ken. He was a real gentleman and it was a great pleasure to have known him. So sorry to hear of his passing and I send my deepest condolences.
