Bob Remembered

From Roger Creasey
Bob goes way back.....I knew him for many many years (I cannot recall but I think he joined us with Transair at Croydon) he started off originally in the detail shop then moved into the hangars, he became first an inspector then a supervisor . When we became BCAL and the fleet grew bringing in a lot of weekend and evening work Bob got put onto a small shift of supervisors that would cover weekend and out of normal hours working both on major maintenance and also casualty work he was a very capable engineer with a vast experience and well liked by all.

Very sad news, he was a great engineer to work with, great respect. He taught us how to be good at our work. RIP Bob & thank you

From Ray Astridge
Bob didn't like heights. When I replaced the rubber boot on the top of the fin of a B707 (below the ADF aerial I think, well I was a nail bender after all!!). Bob had to inspect it. He came out of the hangar (the aircraft was on the pan of hangar 3 at the time and I had used a cherry picker to reach the job). Bob stood by the cherry picker, got a small pair of binoculars out of his pocket, had a look up and said "that looks fine to me Ray" and promptly turned, went back into the hangar, and stamped up the job card!!

From Gary Keast: RIP Bob
