Anne Roberts : Cabin Crew & Ticket Desk
Sadly Anne passed away at the end of July 2024, my sincere condolences to her family, friends and former colleagues. My thanks to Roger Wilson for letting me know.
Roger recalls that Anne joined BUA in the late sixties as cabin crew. She transferred to the ground about 1970, & for many years worked on the ticket desk for both BCAL & BA. She was well known for making Christmas crackers and selling them to work colleagues.

This is so sad to learn. I shared a house with Anne and Lynda Husbands (now Gorton) in East Grinstead in 1973 when I first joined BCAL. Anne was so talented making all sorts of things - I still have Christmas Tree decorations she gave me and embroidered bits and bobs too. She was an amazing girl, so supportive, so knowledgeable and helpful, although I do remember her helping herself to my precious eggs from the fridge one day!! Dear Anne, rest peacefully, you’ll always be remembered so fondly
From Suzanna Warrick: Sad to hear this news, worked with Anne on the ticket desk. RIP Anne.

I worked with Anne on the Ticket desk and she attended a few family events after I left but when we went overseas we lost touch. I didn't realise that she had been with the company so long but knew that she had been an RAF Air traffic controller out in Cyprus

Anne was an old girlfriend of mine back in the late sixties/early seventies. She shared a house with three other BUA hostesses, Louise, Carol (maybe) and one other whose name escapes me in Linnell Road, Redhill. There were some great times in that house for sure. RIP Anne and thank you for some happy memories.
From Derek Bonfield
I worked with Anne Roberts both in Terminal Communications and on the Ticket Desk at Gatwick. She was always fun to work with. We frequently collaborated in trying to solve the Telegraph cryptic crossword! I well remember the raucous dinner parties she organised, especially the one she gave for my birthday. A star sadly missed.
From Carol Anderson

Like many others I worked with Anne on the ticket desk during the 1970’s. Anne was an excellent colleague and always someone you could turn to in a difficult situation. Will be sadly missed and RIP.

Really sad to hear about Anne. We met whilst both doing part time jobs at The Limes Bistro in Charlwood and enjoyed a very close friendship all through the 70s… She was always cheerful and full of fun.
From Elspeth Barber

From Roger Hall
A very sad loss from our ticket desk family. Anne was a wonderful person to have worked with. She excelled in everything she turned her hand to. She always called me "Dodger" as she greeted me with her cheeky grin. I still remember her funny story about her difficulties when in Hong Kong, getting to the Expats Club in Gascoigne Road, an address the local taxi drivers couldn’t understand in English. RIP dear friend.
