The arrival of BCal's 3rd 747, G-GLYN, in October 1986 gave sufficient capacity in the 747 fleet to enable popular routes to be enhanced and BCal's 747s started to serve Hong Kong via Dubai in the 1986 / 87 Winter Timetable; fully taking over from the DC10 fleet by the summer 1987 timetable

The first 747 flight to DXB was made by G-GLYN on 21st November 1986
The flight crew were Captain Roy Linnington, First Officer C J Wassell and Flight Engineer A Walker
