Carole Remembered

From Jon Theobalds
Carole was one of the real characters of the BUA family. As some may know Carole had suffered from MS for many years and had returned to the UK from living in Spain after the death of her husband John in 2008.

We will all remember the jovial, professional but somewhat stubborn (her daughter’s word!) ‘Barnesie’ who ran a tight shift in Reception but had the respect of all her ‘girls’.

Carole also was of course one of the inhabitants of ‘The Spiers Way Hotel’ in Horley. Parties were constant, and how her neighbours in the flats must have suffered. Who cared in those days? It was the sixties and parties were held constantly - it was the law!!
The photo above, kindly from Phil Rix via Jon T, shows a delighted Carole having closed out ‘Tango Bravo’ from the South finger, with Redcap van LPA 963D in background and a Dan Air ‘Elizabethan’/Ambassador outside the Load Control and Service Control office.

Barry Proctor is trying to get Carol’s attention, obviously without success! The photo was taken after the new livery was on aircraft, but before new uniforms were introduced. Phil believes it was circa 1967
