Ethna Kenny
Sadly Ethna passed away on the 6th August 2015 after a long illness.  Our sincere condolences go out to Ethna's family, friends and former colleagues. Ethna, who lived in Horley near Gatwick, had been quite unwell in the last few years. She leaves a son, Paul, daughter-in-law and grand-daughter.

Ethna was BCAL’s much-respected Manager - Cabin Staff, a position she attained after many years’ service flying as a senior cabin crew member. Ethna played a key role in creating - and maintaining - the very high in-flight service standards for which the airline was renowned. After BCAL, she was recruited by British Airways as a cabin crew consultant.

Ethna's service was held on 21st August 2015 at The Church of the English Martyrs in Horley and there was a gathering at the Redhill and Reigate Golf Club.

I have very fond memories of Ethna when she was visiting Australia some years back. Ethna and Rosie Mason came to stay with me in Queensland, loads of laughter, stories from the good old days and some tears of joy too. God threw away the mold when he made Ethna Kenny.

From Betty Wells :  Will miss you Ethna and latterly, our telephone conversations, joking to the end R.I.P dear friend!

From Angela Mansi
So sorry to  hear of Ethna's passing. She was a tower of strength to us cabin crew at BCal. Always kind, willing to listen, funny and sensitive, she was just what we all needed, and will be very sadly missed. When my father was dying of cancer in 1987, after treatment in Paris, no airline would bring him home.  She arranged a whole row of seats on a BAC1-11 and we brought him home just in time. I shall never forget her kindness and I shall be thinking of her on the day. Angela Mansi (Flight Hostess).

From Rosie Mason.
When the Caledonian/BUA merger came about in 1970  our two cabin crew union teams very soon merged too. Ours at Caledonian was masterfully led by George Copsey, and we joined forces with BUA's Ethna Kenny, Rosie Johnson and Roz Gallimore.  After that our meetings and get-togethers were enhanced enormously by the wit and banter of our new friends. We had such fun times.  I have luckily enjoyed on-going friendships with both Ethna and Rosie over the many years since our halcyon '70's days at BCAL.  They were a great double act, and it is such a sadness to have lost them both within a short time of each other.  All who knew you do miss you so, Ethna and Rosie.

From Beverley Billington

From Phil Bowell
Ethna was a wonderful lady who had a wonderful passion for delivering excellence. I first met her when I was in catering - she used to show the new recruits around the kitchen and would always want them to see everything. A wonderful lady who was highly responsible for ensuring the product delivered in the air was the best it could be. She had a great personality and did a terrific job for BCAL. Rest in Peace Ethna - a beautiful lady

From Marjory Jacobson : Ethna, now flying with the angels. R.I.P
