Captain Peter Dawes
Sadly we learn that Peter, a former 1-11 Captain, passed away on the 8th June 2020 after being diagnosed with cancer in April. My sincere condolences go out to his wife Anna, and his children Rosanna, Sally and Alex, family, friends and former colleagues at this sad time.
Peter's family believe his years at BUA, British Caledonian and later at British Airways, were the happiest of his life. He always reminisced about his flying days; and Anna also holds very fond memories of her time as a member of the cabin crew, the places they visited, and the friends they both made

So sorry to hear that Peter has passed away. A very good friend over many years. Remember well planning a GLCT flight with Peter where we broke all the rules to fly the children around an oil rig in the North Sea on our way to Amsterdam. Great day out. Deepest condolences to all the family.

I was shocked and sad to hear the news about Capt. Peter Dawes. He was one of BCAL’s “golden” characters and my condolences go to Anna and family.

RIP to a dear, kind man. Fond memories of a trip with him talking about owning a race horse called ‘The Mint’ possibly. I think it was in Bahrain and I was playing dominoes with him under an umbrella at The Delmon Hotel and I got the most horrendous reflection sunburn where I had to passenger home. He at least was able to vouch for me to the chief that it wasn’t self inflicted. Such a gentleman. Sincere condolences to all his family.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Captain Peter Dawes. We go back a very long way. Peter and I were on our ab-initio pilot training course at Scone aerodrome Perth in 1965, even sharing a room for some months. I was only 19 years of age and Peter around the same, but much more sophisticated with his Dunhill pipe.
We developed a deep friendship over the period of the course and it has left me with many fond memories which have been refreshed over the recent days. How could one forget the summer evening trips to the Grill bar in downtown Perth.....often riding in Peter's Sunbeam Rapier convertible? Trips around the highlands, folk clubs, squash. Wow! I almost forgot there was the flying too.
I shall always cherish memories of his kindness, his generosity and his great sense of fun. We did laugh a lot. I do regret that I let our friendship lapse. Different bases, aircraft fleets and families seems to allow this to happen. I send my sincere condolences to Anna, his family and many friends. RIP Peter.
