Sue Webb (nee Pipe) Cabin Crew Senior Hostess
Sadly Suzanne was killed, aged 64, in a tragic riding accident on 4th March 2017, my sincere condolences go out to her mother Sheila, Sue's husband Peter and their son Chris, family, friends and former colleagues.
Sue joined BCal as cabin crew in 1973 and flew until 1983, rising to Senior Hostess and was also selected as crew on a 1980 Royal Flight carrying The Queen and Prince Philip.
Sue was also an expert horsewoman and was secretary of the Mid-Surrey Farmers Draghounds which met at Dallington. Her horse, Ron, fell at the first fence of the day, a small holly hedge. The horse stumbled on landing and Sue was thrown off. Sue had ridden all her life and was vice-chair of the British Show Horse Association and was a keen sidesaddle rider.
She was also an enthusiastic sailor and used to sail out of Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne on her brother Nigel’s yacht. A local collection raised over £500 for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance in memory of Sue.
The family held a private funeral for family and close friends at the end of March 2017. A memorial service for Sue's friends and former colleagues was held on Friday 21st April 2017 at Holy Cross Church in Uckfield.
