Rod Hoare Director of Ground Operations
Sadly Rod has passed away (August 2016). Rod held roles as General Manager Passenger Services and rose to become BCAL's Director of Ground Operations. My sincere condolences go out to Rod's family, friends and former colleagues.
Rod was awarded an MBE in 1976 and became one of the best known names in the transport industry. In his time Rod worked for BOAC, P&O, Sally Ferries, British Caledonian and British Airways.
Switching to Rail was Chief Executive of Metronet for four years from 1999 to 2003. Immediately prior to this he was Group Rail Director for BAA plc and Chairman of Heathrow Express, which he developed from its early concept stages in 1994 to its operating business.
Rod worked worldwide in all forms of transport including Railways, Aviation, Shipping and Roads. Rod held various non-executive roles in addition to latterly being Chairman of North Star; a transport consultancy.

Rod's service was held on 5th September 2016 at Weymouth Crematorium in Dorset. Rod was remembered after the service with a gathering at The Smugglers Inn, Weymouth
