Captain Mike Cole
Sadly Mike passed away on 10th June 2013 in Florida, USA, at the age of 92. Mike was one of three brothers who all served with the Armed Forces during War World 2 - with great distinction.
Mike joined Civil Aviation after the war, and took his pilots licenses and enjoyed a wonderful career of some forty years of flying. He flew on the Berlin Airlift, then with Silver City Airways, Lancashire Aviation, British United Airways and eventually with British Caledonian Airways.
Mike retired in 1980, and then he and his American wife, Bunny, moved to the USA. They left from Ifold, near Loxwood in Sussex, and went to Winter Park, Florida.
There he enjoyed a very active life of gardening, helping neighbours, and serving as the Volunteer Chairman while running US PGA Tour Golf tournaments, including the well known ‘Arnold Palmer Invitational’ (Bay Hill Classic), Father/Son Challenge, and Walt Disney Classics, which included famous names such as Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus.
He and his wife are well known in Winter Park, and he will be sadly missed.
Our sincere condolences go out to Mike's family, friends and former colleagues.
