John Sartain Engineer

Sadly John, aged 65, passed away over the weekend 14/15th March 2015, our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends and former colleagues.

John's service was held on 17th April 2015 at the Worthing Crematorium, Findon, West Sussex. Afterwards a wake was held at the nearby Washington Village Memorial Hall.

John came to BCal in the early 70's from the RAF where he had worked on Hercules aircraft, during his time at BCal he became an Engineering Supervisor. He then switched to being a free lance instructor working in Russia and with other companies  around the UK. In the 90's he spent some time at Northbrook college at Shoreham airport teaching future aircraft engineers.

John then went on to be a manager with Northwest Orient airlines then maintenance manager with Das Air Cargo both at Gatwick. In 2007 it was back to Northbrook college, he then managed to achieve his passion for vintage aircraft restoring a P51 mustang and other old aircraft at Shoreham airportwhere he was still working.

He was a dedicated aircraft engineer to the end and will be missed by all who knew him.
