Jim Remembered

From Brian Ferdinando
Jim carried out his basic engineer training in the Fleet Air Arm. Subsequently he joined Field Aircraft Services as a ground engineer at Heathrow.  In 1960 he passed his Flight Engineers "O" licence endorsed for the Douglas DC6 and started his flying career with Hunting Clan Air Transport which soon became part of British United Airways.

Jim stayed with the Company through various mergers until his retirement, a flying career of 30 years. During that time he held licences for DC6, Bristol Britannia, Boeing 707 and DC10; a more capable and professional Flight Engineer you could not wish to meet.

Jim was a remarkable man in many ways who, despite his own health problems in later years was a dedicated carer and devoted husband to Betty who had suffered a stroke in the prime of her life and has been wheelchair bound for many years since.
