Glyn Remembered

From Tony Cocklin
Glyn was former Picture Editor of the Financial Times from where he and his team served as official photographers to BCAL and before that, to BUA. Glyn's top-class photography graphically recorded the entire life and times of the airline. His pictures of the BCAL aircraft fleet, its people, network locations and every notable milestone occasion were widely admired and are still treasured by many. His last 'assignment' was coverage of Alastair Pugh's Memorial Service at Brooklands earlier this year, 2019.

Over the years, Glyn became very much part of the BCAL 'family.' He continued to keep in touch with BCAL friends and colleagues long after the airline's demise. Glyn was visited regularly by a good number of them during recent months in hospital and latterly at the hospice. Many sincere condolences to Hilary who was also well-known in BCAL circles.

From Phil Bowell
Really sorry to hear of the passing of Glyn, he was a really great guy and I knew him for quite a while. I first met him when he came around the old BUA/BCAL flight kitchen. We next met when he did some work on the Ramp, for special flights, first flights as I recall.

Next was meeting him in Dallas Ft/Worth when he accompanied the BCAL Golfing Lions in the early 80’s (I was there from 81 to 84 so within that period). I certainly remember his photo shoot in New York for the inaugural in 1985 and his great picture of The Wall In Times Square with the pipe band underneath. An iconic image. I last saw him at Alastair Pugh’s memorial, he looked well and we had a good chat. A really nice man who will be sadly missed.
