Caledonian Airways first aircraft was named "Start of Robbie Burns", their second was names "Flagship Bonnie Scotland", thereafter the aircraft were given names after places in Scotland.The first aircraft named in this was was a DC-7C, G-ASHL, back in 1963 and she was named County of Ayr.
The tradition carried on throughout Caledonian's tenure and on into BCal; the Scottish place names were given to DC-7s, DC-6s, Britannia's, BAC 1-11s, VC10s, Boeing 707s and some of the BCal Helicopter Fleet. The DC10s, A310s and Boeing 747s were named after famous and notable Scottish people.
