This would have been a promotional model from Airbus to show the Caledonian Board how any A300 purchases would look like, albeit with an adapted 1-11 / 707 livery. The A300 was announced in 1969, so this would have been one of the early models given to airlines.
But though no A300 orders were made, Airbus made a presentation to Caledonian//BUA and then later BCal as can be seen below. Eventually BCal would order the A310......and that is a whole story all on it own!
